Abington Park Police Box

This job, carried out through Oakleaf’s partnering agreement with Mears and Northampton Borough Council, comprised the removal and renovation of existing Victorian roof tiles as well as the removal and replacement of timbers and guttering.

Some internal redecoration and refurbishment was also carried out during this first phase of restoration to this well-known building in the designated Conservation Zone of Abington Park. Sensitive security was provided which was effective throughout the project.

“Once again, this project had a very public eye – as a landmark building within a conservation area the project came under a lot of scrutiny from both Councillors and the public. The first phase of restoration comprised of refurbishing the original Victorian roof together with some structural repairs to ensure the long term waterproof integrity of the structure. The most satisfying feature was the replacement of the bonnet hips, which identify this Victorian building as one worth saving!"

"As a local Company, we are proud to be involved in the restoration of these fine old buildings, which are preserved due to the commitment of local people within the community and long term initiative taken by Councillors and Borough Engineers. Saving these projects offer benefits to future generations of Northamptonians ”
